Sergio Mujica is the Secretary-General of the International Organization for Standardization, or ISO, a role he has held since 2017.

ISO brings together 174 national standards bodies to develop International Standards that support trade, innovation, sustainability, and health and safety worldwide. Under his leadership, ISO adopted its Strategy 2030, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with the vision of making lives easier, safer, and better.

Before joining ISO, Sergio served as Deputy Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization in Brussels, and earlier held several senior positions in the Government of Chile, including Director General of  Chile Customs.

He holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a master’s in international law from American University in Washington, D.C. A strong advocate for integrity, transparency, and gender equality, he is also a member of the International Gender Champions network.

In 2021, Sergio was reappointed to a second five-year term as ISO Secretary-General.
