Mr. Torbjörn Fredriksson is the Head of the E-commerce and Digital Economy Branch of the UNCTAD Division on Technology and Logistics. Since November 2025, he has also been serving as the Officer in Charge of the Division every other month.
Mr Fredriksson has been leading UNCTAD´s work on digitalization for development since 2008. Under his leadership, the flagship publication, the Digital Economy Report, was born as was also the eTrade for all initiative, eTrade for Women, various capacity-building activities related to building eTrade readiness and better measurement of e-commerce and the digital economy.
The Branch also overseas the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on E-commerce and the Digital Economy and the Working Group on Measuring E-commerce and the Digital Economy.
The Branch is also representing UNCTAD as co-facilitator of one of the five objectives in the Global Digital Compact, notably with regard to inclusive digital economy.
Mr Fredriksson joined the UN in 2000. Before that, he held positions at the Invest in Sweden Agency and the Swedish Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
