The Commission will consider trade development policies and the post-2015 sustainable development agenda. In the context of the ongoing preparatory process for the third International Conference on Financing for Development and the adoption of the post-2015 sustainable development agenda, the Commission will explore possible designs for a national policy mix that would allow member States to make the best use of trade in attaining the three dimensions (economic, social and environmental) of sustainable development.

The Commission will have the opportunity to discuss the formulation of national policies in the context of existing regional trade agreements. It will review the possible impact of such agreements on the formulation of national development policy. Trends in regional trade agreements will be highlighted, as well as their capacity to address sustainable development concerns at national and regional levels.

The Commission will also consider progress made in promoting and strengthening the synergies among the three pillars of the work of UNCTAD in the areas covered by this Commission.

Finally, the Commission may also wish to consider and recommend to the Trade and Development Board, for approval, the substantive topic(s) for the next session of the Commission.
