The Borrowers’ Platform was established in line with paragraph 48(i) of the Sevilla Commitment to discuss technical issues, share information and experiences in addressing debt challenges, increase access to technical assistance and capacity-building in debt management, coordinate approaches and strengthen borrower countries’ voices in the global debt architecture.
Members of the Platform are invited to join the first in-person meeting of Steering Committee, the technical body of the Platform, that will take place on 9 December 2026 in Geneva, alongside the 15th UNCTAD International Debt Management Conference.
This first convening marks a key moment for the Borrowers’ Platform, shaping the focus of its first annual cycle 2026/2027 and establishing a strong foundation for the future. Following the direction agreed at the first Governing Council meeting, the Steering Committee will meet to take forward the approved Workplan, discuss the Platform’s priorities, and share experiences.
