The Debt Management Conference provides a biennial forum for sharing experiences and exchanging views among Governments, international organizations, academia and civil society on current developments in the debt landscape in developing countries and on debt management issues in the broader macroeconomic context.
It brings together senior-level officials and national debt managers from around the world to discuss some of the most pertinent current topics in the field. Around 500 participants from over 100 countries, as well as senior representatives of international, regional and other institutions, participated in the 14th session of the conference, held in March 2025.
Participation and registration
The 15th Debt Management Conference will be held in person in the Council Chamber of the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. Registration is required.
Only eligible participants may attend in person. Others can follow the discussions online (audio only). Registered participants unable to attend in person will receive a link to access the live audio stream in the six official UN languages one day before the session begins.
Who may attend in person?
In-person participation is open to:
- Government officials and delegates from UNCTAD member states
- Representatives of other organizations, including specialized agencies, intergovernmental bodies and accredited non-governmental organizations (general and special categories) as observers
- Academics and private sector representatives as observers
- Experts with proven expertise in the subject matter

Following the Debt Management Conference, the DMFAS Advisory Group will convene donors, beneficiaries and partners to examine the programme’s capacity-building activities and discuss future priorities and strategic direction.
Who may participate in the advisory group?
Participation is limited to countries that use UNCTAD’s debt management software at one of their institutions. Register for the DMFAS meeting.
