Briefing on the UNCTAD Multi-year expert meeting on Trade, Services and Development

Background and objectives:

The EU-UNCTAD Joint Programme for Angola: Train for Trade II supports the participation of Angolan experts in the Multi-Year Expert Meetings on Trade, Services and Development during three consecutive years. In 2020, the meeting was organized online 23-24 September 2020, followed by a trade policy dialogue on "The multilateral trading system in the post-pandemic 'new normal'" on 25 September. The objective of the briefing of the Angolan delegates was to introduce the participants to the meeting topics beforehand in view of facilitating their better participation in the deliberations.

Results achieved:

Six Angolan delegates participated in the briefing session. The Multi-Year Expert Meeting itself also counted with the participation of six Angolan delegates, including H.E. Ambassador Margarida Izata, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Angola to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, who made an intervention in a panel discussion during the event.

O Programa Conjunto UE-CNUCED para Angola: Train for Trade II apoia a participação dos peritos angolanos nas Reuniões Plurianuais de Peritos em Comércio, Serviços e Desenvolvimento durante três anos consecutivos. Em 2020, o encontro foi organizado online de 23 a 24 de setembro de 2020, seguido por um diálogo de política comercial sobre "O sistema multilateral de comércio no 'novo normal' da pós-pandemia" em 25 de setembro. O objectivo do briefing aos delegados angolanos foi apresentar antecipadamente aos participantes os temas do encontro, de forma a facilitar a sua melhor participação nas deliberações.

Resultados alcançados:

Seis delegados angolanos participaram na sessão de briefing. A própria Reunião Plurianual de Peritos contou também com a participação de seis delegados angolanos, incluindo H.E. Embaixadora Margarida Izata, Representante Permanente da República de Angola junto das Nações Unidas e outras organizações internacionais em Genebra, que intervém num painel de discussão durante o evento.
