As part of UNCTAD’s “Sustainable Smart Ports (SSP) for African Countries” project, this workshop will strengthen the capacity of port stakeholders through tailored activities to support Tanger Med’s energy transition. It focuses on KPIs for energy efficiency and sustainability, equipment electrification, and emerging trends in alternative fuels, building directly on the priority areas identified and endorsed by stakeholders in the port’s SSP Assessment Report. The workshop will be structured as follows:
- Day 1: KPIs for energy efficiency & sustainability
- Day 2: Decarbonizing port operations, equipment & fuels
- Day 3: Strategic planning, technology maturity & financing the transition
This event will also provide a platform for port stakeholders, including terminal operators, to share their experiences and ongoing initiatives on renewable energy and energy efficiency, thereby fostering synergies, collaboration, and coordination across their projects.
Stakeholders will learn to apply the tools and knowledge needed to make informed decisions that advance their respective SSP goals through joint and coordinated action.
The workshop is by invitation only and targets a wide range of stakeholders involved in port operations and energy planning in Tanger Med. The training will also showcase best practices from other ports and provide valuable technical insights through expert-led discussions.
