The China Association for Standardization Sustainable Business and Brands Committee (SBBC) is a committee aiming to advocate and advance sustainable business development and brand building, inspire the business sector to take proactive and practical actions to align social and environmental responsibilities with business goals, therefore, to contribute to the implementation of SDGs.
The committee consists of leading companies, industry experts, and thought leaders who are dedicated to integrating environmental and social values into business strategic planning, as well as into decision making processes. Through regular discussions, workshops, and knowledge - sharing sessions, they aim to drive positive change and create a more sustainable future for all.
The Dialogue with the United Nations will provide an important platform to discuss the role of Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) in the context of sustainable international trade — promoting more sustainable production practices, facilitating market access, and advancing sustainable business and brands building. As the Secretariat of the United Nations Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS), UNCTAD brings valuable experience in research and analysis, policy dialogue, and multi-stakeholder engagement to the table. As the Dialogue aims to engage both leading Chinese enterprises and SMEs, with a focus on enhancing their understanding and involvement in VSS-related initiatives, UNCTAD’s expertise in the topic will support the event by providing technical input that the Sustainable Business and Brands Committee (SBBC) may require in delivering this initiative.
Objective
The Dialogue with the UN will:
- Explore the role of Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) in promoting sustainable international trade.
- Highlight how VSS can support sustainable production, market access, and brand building.
- Provide technical insights and policy guidance from UNCTAD, leveraging its expertise in sustainability standards.
