Virtual Meeting due to COVID-19
Following consultations and advisories in view of the evolving situation concerning the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Bureau of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) has decided to proceed with a reduced meeting of the twenty-third session over a period of three days, from 10 to 12 June, in a virtual format.
All formal decisions, including the adoption of the resolutions, will be made under silence procedure.
Information on how to attend the virtual meeting will be sent to Members nearer to the dates of the annual session.

The Commission will address two priority themes:
Harnessing rapid technological change for inclusive and sustainable development.
Exploring space technologies for sustainable development and the benefits of international research collaboration in this context.
The Commission will also review progress made in the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
The first day will consist of an opening ceremony, followed by a high-level session on Harnessing science, technology, and innovation to accelerate progress on the SDGs and address COVID-19 which will be discussing, among other things, international collaboration to use science, technology and innovation (STI) for tackling the pandemic and address its impact on global efforts towards the achievement of the SDGs.
The United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
