The Borrowers’ Platform, launched in April 2026 by Ministers of finance and central bank governors of developing countries and UN Secretary General is entering its first annual cycle.

The platform addresses a gap in the international financial system, where developing countries remain underrepresented while creditor coordination continues to expand.

The Borrowers' Platform operates through a two-tier governance structure: a Governing Council, which serves as the political and decision-making body providing strategic direction, composed of ministers of finance, central bank governors, or equivalent ministerial heads; and a Steering Committee, which carries out the technical and operational work of the Platform.

The first Governing Council of the Borrowers’ Platform will take place on Monday 12 October, on the Margins of the IMF/WB Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.

Please note that this is a closed-door, by-invitation-only event.
