The Intergovernmental Group of Experts (IGE) on Competition Law and Policy is a standing body established under the United Nations Set of Multilaterally Agreed Equitable Principles and Rules for the Control of Restrictive Business Practices (UN Set) to monitor the application and implementation of the Set.

The eighth session of the IGE on Competition Law and Policy will focus on the following issues:

  • Competition policy and the exercise of intellectual property rights

  • Criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of competition authorities

  • Voluntary peer review of competition law and policy of the West African Monetary Union

The session will also provide an opportunity for delegates to discuss the preparations for UNCTAD XII.
