UNCTAD is pleased to invite member States to the second joint United Nations Inter-Agency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM*) Conference on Harnessing Trade for Growth in the Mediterranean.
The Conference is being organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in cooperation with UNCTAD and PAM agencies Members of the United Nations Chief Executives Board (CEB) Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity. It will be held on 30–31 May 2013, in Room V of the Palais des Nations.
The Conference will discuss the role that parliaments can play in stimulating economic growth in the Mediterranean subregion, in particular from a legislative and regulatory standpoint. The Conference will end with agreed conclusions, which will serve as the basis for future work to be undertaken by the PAM "Standing Committee on Economic, Social and Environmental Cooperation" and the "Panel on Trade and Investment in the Mediterranean".
The agenda, attached, was developed in very close cooperation with PAM and in consultation with other agencies Members of the Cluster.
The Conference will provide an excellent opportunity for member States to exchange views with Parliamentarians from PAM countries on issues related to the economic crisis, trade, transport, investment and energy.
Permanent missions are invited to attend as well as to distribute this invitation through their channels to other interested parties.
