The Gap Analysis of Cyberlaws in Pacific Small Island Developing States report examines the cyberlaw landscapes across 15 Pacific countries, including Timor-Leste.
It provides a comprehensive overview of domestic legal frameworks in key areas such as e-transactions, online consumer protection, data protection, cybersecurity, intellectual property, online content regulation, domain names, online dispute resolution, digital identification, e-payments, and taxation—all crucial for maximising the potential of e-commerce both domestically and across borders.
Following the official presentation of the report, a round-table of development partners will be organized, bringing together key stakeholders, including the Commonwealth Secretariat, UNCITRAL, UNCDF, and other partners providing assistance in this area in the region, to discuss findings and explore collaboration opportunities.
The Pacific Digital Economy Programme (PDEP) is a joint initiative between UNDP, UNCDF and UNCTAD to support the development of inclusive digital economies in the Pacific.
The PDEP is jointly supported by the European Union, and the Australian and New Zealand Governments.
