The E-Commerce and Digital Economy Branch of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia are organizing the launch of the Indonesia eTrade Readiness Assessment (eT Ready) on 12 February 2026. The event will serve to disseminate the findings and recommendations regarding e-commerce and digital trade in Indonesia to key stakeholders, including the public and private sectors, civil society, academia, as well as UN and development partners. Following the launch, a dedicated roundtable with development partners will initiate discussions on implementing the assessment’s recommendations. All activities will take place in Jakarta with in-person and online participation modalities.
The eTrade Readiness Assessment reviews Indonesia’s e-commerce and digital trade ecosystem, with a view to identifying policy recommendations for strengthening innovation, increasing global competitiveness, and creating a robust and inclusive digital economy. The report focuses on the following policy areas: e-commerce and digital trade policy framework, technologies adoption, SMEs’ performance on e-commerce and digital trade, legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as digital payment systems and financial inclusion.
The assessment is the 41st assessment undertaken by UNCTAD globally and the fourth in Southeast Asia following the ones in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar. Funding is provided by the E-commerce and Digital Economy Programme Core Donors (Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and the Kingdom of the Netherlands).
