UNCTAD will host the workshop on e-government and cyberlaws with the East African Community (EAC) in Kenya. This workshop is a continuation of the long standing collaboration between EAC and UNCTAD to advance the development of e-commerce and e-government applications and services in the Partner States. The meeting will benefit from support of the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs (MOGAHA) of the Republic of Korea.  MOGAHA and UNCTAD have cooperated closely since 2011 to improve effective capacity building of developing countries to benefit from information and communications technologies (ICTs), in particular e-government.

The workshop will feature presentations and discussions on global trends and developments with regard to e-commerce, e-government systems and practices, public procurement related to e-government, a case study of e-government systems and public e-procurement in the Republic of Korea, and related initiatives in Partner States. Through the workshop, participants will share experiences and learn from how to build e-government systems and create cyberlaws and regulations of e-commerce. In addition to enhancing knowledge and understanding of e-government systems and cyberlaws, the workshop will formulate recommendations on how to optimize the implementation of the system, framework and legislation in the EAC.
