Senegal was identified as pre-eligible for graduation at the 2021 Triennial Review of the LDC Category by the Committee for Development Policy. According to the mandate given to it by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 59/209 of 20 December 2004, UNCTAD thereafter launched the process of preparation of Senegal’s Vulnerability Profile.
Following the completion of the Vulnerability Profile, UNCTAD, in coordination with Direction Générale de la Planification et des Politiques Économiques of Senegal’s Ministry of Economy, Planning and Cooperation will host a two-day Industrial Policy Training Workshop in Dakar. The workshop is part of UNCTAD’s support to Senegal on graduation with momentum.
The workshop aims to help enhance Senegal’s policy capacity to use industrial policy more effectively to graduate with momentum. Workshop thematic sessions will cover: (i) Introduction to industrial policy; (ii) The role of the State in industrial policy; (iii) Industrial policy instruments; (iv) Industrial modernization and export diversification; and (vi) Industrial upgrading within global value chains.
The workshop targets government officials directly concerned with the design, implementation and monitoring of industrial policy in the Government of Senegal.
