2017-04-06_IPR_400x323.jpgUNCTAD, in cooperation with UNDP, UNAIDS and Yolse, Santé Publique et Innovation, is organizing a regional workshop on "Transfer of Technology and Public Health" in Dakar, Senegal, on 10-12 April 2017.

The Directors of the national intellectual property offices and the Directors of the national health directorates from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, Niger, and Senegal will attend the meeting.
 
The objective of the event is to assist beneficiary countries in the creation of national inter-ministerial commissions on access to medicines and pharmaceutical innovation to enable a more efficient use of TRIPS flexibilities, in particular the LDC transition period for pharmaceuticals (2033).
 
In order to promote the use of flexibilities for access to medicines and to assist in the establishment of domestic structures in that regard, this workshop will present to the participants the recommendations of the United Nations Secretary General High Level Panel on Access to Medicines and to discuss the way forward for the beneficiary countries.
