UNCTAD is organizing a two-week national workshop, a key activity in the implementation plan for the project entitled “Critical Minerals for the Energy Transition: Rapid Assessment of Value Creation and Diversification Potential in Madagascar,” funded by the Government of Japan.
During the first week of the workshop, UNCTAD will present the results of its analysis of products and industries with potential for export and diversification. UNCTAD and the General Secretariat of Mines will then hold consultations with stakeholders from the relevant sectors to prioritize products and identify the investments, policies, and capacities needed for their development.
During the second week of the workshop, UNCTAD and the General Secretariat will facilitate discussions with policymakers from across the Government of Madagascar to develop policies that address the needs identified by stakeholders for the development of priority products.
