Consumer’s right to information and education
Within the scope of its technical cooperation work, UNCTAD has been providing technical assistance and institutional capacity-building activities on Competition and Consumer Protection Policies to Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa and Timor-Leste, according to identified needs and interests.
This webinar will explore the consumer’s right to information and education, examining the legal foundations and key challenges faced by developing countries — including information asymmetry, consumer vulnerability, and unequal access — while highlighting best practices in sustainable consumption campaigns, protection of vulnerable consumers, and e-commerce awareness.
The program features an interactive practical session focused on designing campaigns tailored to national contexts with limited resources and on developing concrete recommendations to strengthen consumer protection in Portuguese-speaking African countries and Timor-Leste.
The 2-hour and 30-minute webinar comprises three sessions followed by interactive debates.
