This session will introduce the main challenges and opportunities pertaining to online platforms, e.g. what is an online platform, how should we define an online platform, what is their economic and social impact, is more regulation justified and what are its risks and opportunities?

These and related questions will be addressed by expert speakers during the session which will include interactive questions and asnwers with the audience. 

The session will cover some of the following topics:
• Platforms as enablers of economic activity and international trade
• The great variety of platforms and their activities in an increasingly digitized economy
• Regulatory initiatives affecting platforms
