BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE
The workshop aims to present and validate the trade policies and transport and logistics measures identified that are needed to address food security challenges in Morocco. The intended outcome is to support policymakers in strengthening sustainable and resilient food supply chains.
UNCTAD conducted the national assessment in Morocco using a two-pillar approach, examining (1) trade policies and (2) transport and logistics measures. This assessment reviews the current state of play of food trade as well as food transport and logistics systems. It also identifies existing needs and gaps, and provides context-specific recommendations and solutions to enhance the country’s food security response.
Government officials, relevant institutions and private sector representatives will review and discuss the main findings and strategic recommendations of both assessment reports. They are also expected to agree on the next steps towards implementing targeted capacity-building activities.
