World services exports 6% up in quarter 3 of 2013

According to preliminary estimates by UNCTAD and WTO, in the third quarter of 2013, world exports of services grew by 6%, as compared with the same quarter of the year before (balance-of-payments basis, current prices).

According to preliminary estimates by UNCTAD and World Trade Organization (WTO), the world quarterly merchandise exports volume decreased by 0.7% in the third quarter of 2013 compared with the quarter before. At the same time, world merchandise imports volume growth remained positive at 0.3%.

Global inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI) rose by 4 per cent in the first half of 2013 compared to the same period in 2012, with a diverging trend appearing between developing and transition economies on the one hand, and developed countries on the other.
