Investment by southern transnational corporations (TNCs) reached a record level and southern TNCs are acquiring developed country foreign affiliates in the developing world, says UNCTAD's latest Global Investment Trend Monitor.
World merchandise exports grew by 2%, while services trade recorded 5% increase in 2013

Estimates of global international trade for 2013 are published today. These statistics cover annual and quarterly merchandise and services transactions - up to q4 2013. Furthermore, seasonally adjusted quarterly statistics are now available for the volume of international merchandise commerce.

According to preliminary estimates by UNCTAD and World Trade Organization (WTO), the world quarterly merchandise exports volume decreased by 0.7% in the third quarter of 2013 compared with the quarter before. At the same time, world merchandise imports volume growth remained positive at 0.3%.
