The United Nations Conference on Jute and Jute Products, 2000, today elected Mr. Li Enheng (China), former Chairman of the International Jute Council, as its President. Mr. Mahfuzul Islam (Bangladesh), current Chairman of the International Jute Council, was elected vice-President.
Following a short plenary meeting, the Conference began a discussion of the draft provisions of the International Agreement on Jute and Jute Products, 2000 (contained in document TD/JUTE.3/R.1).
