​Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in July 2015, UNCTAD and TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) agreed to deepen their cooperation. With financing from TMEA, the two institutions will jointly implement a number of concrete projects for the benefit of the members of the East African Community (EAC).

​Some 90 participants including several African Ministers, representatives from the private sector, academia, civil society organizations and international governmental organizations stressed the expeditious conclusion of African CFTA negotiations and follow-up implementation as necessary for the beneficial integration of Africa into the global economy.

New UNCTAD research shows that the expansion of the list of technology goods earmarked for duty-free treatment by participating economies of the World Trade Organization's Information Technology Agreement (ITA), agreed to in July 2015, will cover 99 per cent of the value of global information and communications technology (ICT) goods, and some 80 per cent of all product lines in this category¹.
