Online registration is mandatory for all participants in UNCTAD 16, including ministerial round tables and other events.
Please read carefully the information below related to your category before registering.
- Members States
In accordance with rule 13 of the rules of procedure of the Conference, the credentials of representatives of States members of UNCTAD are to be issued either by the Head of State or Government or by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country concerned. Those credentials, together with the names of alternate representatives and advisers, should be communicated to the Secretary-General of UNCTAD.
Please note that all members of an official delegation must be included in the letter of credentials. Other delegation members – such as the entourage – should be listed in a separate note verbale sent through your permanent mission in Geneva.
All members of official delegations and members of their entourage, such as protocol officers, spouses, advisers, staff, drivers and security personnel etc., are required to register online for the Conference.
As part of this registration process, a letter of credentials for the official delegation and a note verbale for the entourage must be uploaded to the registration system.

Representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency and intergovernmental organizations that have been invited to attend, as per rule 80 of the rules of procedure of the Conference, should provide a letter of credentials duly signed by the head of their organization, and those credentials, together with the names of alternate representatives and advisers, should be communicated to the Secretary-General of UNCTAD.
Please note that all members of the official delegation must be included in the letter of credentials. Other delegation members – such as the entourage – should be listed in a separate note verbale sent to the secretariat.

Academics, university professors, researchers and faculty members who have either been invited to participate in or wish to attend UNCTAD 16, and/or associated forums and other events, are requested to register online for the Conference.
A copy of the individual invitation issued by UNCTAD, or an endorsement letter from the Head of Department or Vice-Chancellor of their institution confirming their status and clearly explaining their academic interest, should be uploaded during the online registration process.
Final confirmation of participation will be subject to approval by the UNCTAD secretariat.

- Private Sector
Representatives from private sector businesses who have either been invited to or wish to attend UNCTAD 16, and/or associated forums and other events, are requested to register online for the Conference.
Please note that after the registration process and before approval of participation, the secretariat may request further information from participants.

- Youth
UNCTAD Youth Forum will offer the opportunity to young people to join UNCTAD 16 events and the 5th Youth Forum. The forum will take place from 20 to 23 October 2025 and is open to those who are interested in trade and development issues and who are students or young professionals aged between 18 and 30, from all continents.
Youth wishing to participate must go through an application process. Only those who have been formally selected and invited to participate in UNCTAD 16 and the Youth Forum are requested to register online for the Conference. Applications are open now.

Personal letters of invitation issued by UNCTAD should be uploaded during the online registration process.

Media accreditation for UNCTAD 16 is strictly reserved for members of the press - print, photo, radio, TV, film, news agencies, and online media who represent a bona fide media organization.

- Civil Society
Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have the opportunity to engage with the Preparatory Committee for UNCTAD 16 in Geneva before the Conference, enabling substantive contributions to the preparatory process. It is expected that a Civil Society Forum will be held in Geneva ahead of the formal opening of the Conference, organized by CSOs.
CSOs wishing to take part in the preparatory meetings and the Conference (including the Civil Society Forum) must have observer status with UNCTAD or be accredited to UNCTAD 16.
Designation of Representatives
The Head of organizations that have observer status with UNCTAD or are accredited to UNCTAD 16 are requested to designate their representatives who will attend the Conference and its preparatory meetings. The official letter (on official letterhead and signed by the Head of the organization) should be sent by mail or e-mail to UNCTAD's Civil Society Outreach Unit.
Please provide the job title and full contact information for each representative.
All representatives must be designated by the Head of their organization before their online registration for the Conference will be approved.
Register online for the Conference
Designated representatives are requested to register online for the Conference.

Once registration is confirmed, designated representatives may also access non-restricted general documentation.Please Note:
All participants are responsible for obtaining their entry visa for Switzerland and for financing their travel and accommodation in Geneva for the duration of their stay.
The number of representatives allowed per organization might be limited by the capacity of available meeting space.
