Key Issues

 At the occasion of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) 2018, and within the framework of the SDGs Learning, Training & Practice, UNCTAD is organizing a meeting titled “Better Trade 4 the SDGs: using trade as a motor for achieving the SDGs”, in partnership with the ABS Capacity Development Initiative and Fairtrade America.

The meeting, consisting of four interactive sessions, will discuss concrete channels through which trade contributes to the SDGs 12 and 15, which form the theme of this year's HLPF. Such channels include:

The meeting will help participants improve understanding on sustainability-enhancing patterns of international trade, and help strengthen networks of policymakers, practitioners and researchers on this issue.


This event is organized with the financial support of the United Nations Development Account (projects 1415L and 1617AI) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO under the Global BioTrade Programme: Linking trade, biodiversity and sustainable development.
