Are blockchains, or distributed ledger technologies, a short-lived trend or a real technological revolution? Blockchains allow "value" to be transferred over the Internet at a residual cost. A direct consequence is the possible removal of all intermediaries. Are we moving towards a direct relationship between citizens and central banks? How can monetary policy be reinvented in this context? Can we use this technology to the benefit of developing countries and microfinance? This webinar will attempt to answer these questions, which will impact our lives as citizens in the decades to come.
