This course seeks to:

  • Increase participants' understanding of international transit conventions and the practical tools available for transit facilitation.
  • Enhance compliance with international transit instruments, enabling countries to maximize the benefits of efficient transit systems.
  • Promote regional cooperation, ensuring participating countries can fully leverage transit facilitation measures for greater economic integration and trade efficiency.
  • Highlight the importance of appointing and notifying to WTO national transit coordinators to facilitate cross-border collaboration and enhance communication with neighbouring and partner transit countries, and encourage those countries that have not done it yet, to do so.
  • Assist transit coordinators and prepare potential transit coordinators to better undertake their responsibilities in terms of their Terms of Reference and work plans.

The launch of this course will take place on 9 June 2025 and will have Spanish translation. UNCTAD will present the objectives of the course and explain its methodology and chronology. Additionally, Module 1: Understanding Transit will be discussed with invited experts sharing their experiences. The session will provide an opportunity to answer potential questions regarding the course.
