UNCTAD, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda (MINECOFIN), will host a two-day Validation Workshop in Kigali.
The workshop will validate the preliminary findings of the Vulnerability Profile of Rwanda and facilitate an inclusive, multi-stakeholder dialogue on the country’s prospective graduation from the LDC category.
Interactive discussions are intended to enable a deeper understanding of the challenges raised by the Vulnerability Profile: prospects, opportunities and challenges Rwanda is likely to face on the road to graduation and as a graduated LDC; policy options necessary to address identified challenges; potential limitations in institutional capacity; and the role desired of development partners in supporting Rwanda in its efforts to build graduation momentum.
The workshop will bring together approximately 40-50 technical-level participants, including representatives from across government entities and regulatory institutions; as well as the private sector (e.g. Chamber of Commerce and Services, Private Sector Federation, and/or other business associations in key export sectors). There will also be representatives from academia and key national think tanks.
