UNCTAD, in cooperation with the Competition Authority of Albania (CAA), will hold a specialized training session for staff of the Competition Authority of Albania as part of the project “Fostering Competition Law and Policy and Competition Culture in Albania.”
This initiative aims to strengthen the technical capacities of competition law enforcers and promote a deeper understanding of the benefits of competition and competition law in the Albanian market.
The session will address key enforcement challenges, such as detecting cartels without direct evidence, identifying bid rigging in public procurement, and presenting economic proofs in court.
This activity forms part of a broader cooperation framework between UNCTAD and the Competition Authority of Albania, aimed at creating an enabling environment that encourages competition among businesses and reduces barriers to entry and growth for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
The training is one of several capacity-building and advocacy initiatives planned under the UNCTAD–EBRD project, which also includes workshops for judges, awareness-raising campaigns for the business sector, and joint initiatives with the Consumer Protection Commission.
This project is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
The training course will be conducted in both English and Albanian.
