The workshop aims to present and discuss the Sustainable Smart Port (SSP) Assessment report of the Port of Tema. The intended outcome is to endorse the report’s findings and recommendations that will support and advance the port’s energy transition and strengthen long-term capacity for sustainable smart port development.

UNCTAD conducted the assessment of Port of Tema’s SSP performance by applying a comprehensive methodology that examines the port’s capacity to integrate renewable energy and improve energy efficiency. Developed by UNCTAD, this methodology also identifies the main enablers and barriers - policy economic, social, and technological - that influence the port’s ability to become more sustainable and smarter.

Port stakeholders, government officials and other private sector and civil society representatives will review and discuss the main findings and strategic recommendations of the Assessment report. They are also expected to agree on priority actions and next steps towards implementing key recommendations and actions and advance the SSP status of Port of Tema.
