UNCTAD in joint work on traceability system for snake skins

UNCTAD and the secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) have held a roundtable meeting, with relevant experts, to prepare a platform for an international traceability system for snake skins.
UNCTAD supports WAEMU member States’ reform of regional competition framework

As part of a project on reforming the regional competition framework, the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) Commission and UNCTAD’s Competition and Consumer Policies Branch have recently jointly supported national consultation seminars, in Burkina Faso on 5 October and in Senegal on 9 October.

Dr. Luis Humberto Guzmán, President of the Nicaragua National Institute for the Promotion of Competition (Procompetencia) has requested UNCTAD to undertake a peer review of Nicaragua's competition policy and law number 601 of 2008.
Pakistan volunteers for peer review of competition regime

October 2012 marks the fifth anniversary of the promulgation of Pakistan’s Competition Law. The Chairperson of the Competition Commission of Pakistan, Ms. Rahat Kaunain Hassan, has requested UNCTAD to undertake a peer review of Pakistan's competition law and policy.

The Chairman of the Ukraine Antimonopoly Committee, Dr. Vyssel Tshonko, has submitted to UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi a formal request for a peer review of Ukraine's competition law and policy.
Experts back UNCTAD proposal for technical assistance to four countries to bolster competition law and policy

A group of experts on competition policy has discussed the peer reviews of the competition laws and policies in three African countries and Mongolia, and has recommended that UNCTAD carry out a proposed technical assistance programme to follow up on progress already made in the field.

Delegates from the 12 member countries of COMPAL gathered in Lima, Peru from 20 to 22 June 2012 in order to review the progress made in all COMPAL projects and to agree the activities for the last year of COMPAL II, ending June 2013.
