African and Asian port managers trained as instructors for ongoing training programme

Thirty-two managers from ports in ten African and Asian countries completed a training of trainers workshop for UNCTAD's port management programme, held from 24 May to 3 June 2016 in Dublin, Ireland.
Egypt tackling bottlenecks to growth of electronic payments

Egypt is making headway in growing the rate of credit and debit card penetration and galvanizing mobile payments for e-commerce, but bottlenecks remain. Addressing these bottlenecks was the focus of a recent UNCTAD/World Bank fact-finding mission to assess the status of payments for e-commerce in the country.
Ghana: Port management programme continues to produce results

Two dozen managers from the two main ports of Ghana presented case studies they had conducted as part of UNCTAD's Port Training Programme. The national port authority, encouraged by the results, committed to a fourth cycle of training.

As current chair of the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS), UNCTAD has welcomed the adoption of the high-level outcome document by a General Assembly High-Level Meeting in New York on 15–16 December to review the implementation of outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in the context of the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

At the end of September 2015, 42 port operators from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean gathered for a week in Indonesia to jointly defined scorecard of indicators to help ports achieve greater competitiveness.
Port Managers in Côte d'Ivoire complete UNCTAD training

Twenty-four participants, including six women, took part in a TrainForTrade/UNCTAD Port Training Programme in Côte d'Ivoire and were awarded the UNCTAD Certificate in Modern Port Management in Abidjan on 3 September 2015.
UNCTAD helps Haiti's port officials improve their skills as the port at Port-au-Prince is rebuilt

As reconstruction of the port at Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, presses on after a devastating earthquake in 2010, UNCTAD's TrainForTrade programme is offering training to Haitian instructors so that they can in turn train up port officials.
Promoting fish exports from Least Developed Countries

UNCTAD is to organize a training and capacity building Workshop in Moroni, Comoros, from 28 to 30 July 2015. The workshop is part of UNCTAD's project titled: Building the capacities of selected Least Developed Countries to upgrade and diversify their fish exports.
