The Global Commodities Forum, organized by UNCTAD with the support of its partners, is a major multi-stakeholder meeting where participants can debate potential solutions to perennial problems in the commodity economy.

The theme of this year's Forum is "Trade in Commodities: Challenges and Opportunities".

Multi-year Expert Meeting on Commodities and Development, seventh session
 
The discussion will provide a context for appraising the opportunities and challenges arising from new developments in the commodity markets and provide policy options for commodity-based inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Key Issues:

  • Recent developments and new challenges in commodity markets, and policy options for commodity-based inclusive growth and sustainable development.

  • Mitigating the negative impact of commodity markets on global food security, and increasing Commodity-Dependent Developing Countries (CDDCs) access to market intelligence, financial resources, and export markets: Policy actions.

Twenty Second Meeting between the Common Fund for Commodities and the International Commodity Bodies

UNCTAD will host this years meeting between the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) and the International Commodity Bodies (ICBs).

The annual meetings offer an excellent opportunity for the CFC and the ICBs to reflect on their common goal of commodity development.
