UNCTAD-OECD working meeting on trade issues

A working meeting was held between UNCTAD and OECD high-level representatives at the OECD Secretariat in Paris.

As part of a process of enhancing cooperation with other international organizations, Mr. Guillermo Valles (UNCTAD’s Director of International Trade), accompanied by his senior officials, and Mr. Ken Ash (OECD’s Director of the International Trade and Agriculture Directorate), accompanied by his senior colleagues, held a working level meeting in the OECD Secretariat.

They discussed and exchanged information on the areas of work areas of the two respective organizations and upcoming events in 2013. These included review of work on fisheries, agriculture, trade and sustainability, services trade, Global Value Chainss and trade facilitation, and trade policy analysis, data, models, etc.

The meeting reached an understanding to hold a follow-up meeting, to be hosted by UNCTAD, that could examine a more focused issue of mutual interest.
