UNCTAD’s NTM data have been collected from official sources, mainly national laws and regulations and is made publicly available through the following portals.
TRAINS Portal
The TRAINS Portal provides a one-stop shop for importers/exporters, policymakers, and researchers to access data on trade regulations, Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs), as well as some practical information on target markets.
The World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS)
World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS) is a data dissemination and analytical tool that UNCTAD developed in collaboration with the World Bank. It provides TRAINS tariff and non-tariff measures (NTM) data along with international merchandise trade from the UN Comtrade Database.
The Global Trade Helpdesk
The Global Trade Helpdesk (GTH) is a multi-agency initiative jointly led by ITC, UNCTAD, and the WTO that aims to simplify market research for companies, and especially Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), by integrating trade and business information into a single online portal. The TRAINS database contributes data to the GTH.
World Tariff Profiles
World Tariff Profiles - published in collaboration with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC).
NTMs are classified according to the International Classification of NTMs, as established by the MAST group.
Products are classified at the most detailed level according to the Harmonized System (HS) classification or at the national tariff line level.
