At the invitation of H.E. Vital Moreira, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on International Trade, UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi addressed 29 March in Brussels a Workshop on trade and investment for development organized by the Committee.
Trade and Economic Ministers of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), meeting in New Delhi 28 March, have called for strengthening of the role of UNCTAD.
Held in conjunction with UNCTAD XIII, World Investment Forum 2012 will discuss policies needed for making investment by multinational companies and sovereign wealth funds work for sustainable development. Participating will be high-level representatives from business, government and international organizations.
