
The "Working Party" meets two to three times per year to review UNCTAD's programme plan and performance information, technical cooperation activities, evaluations, publications policy and communications strategy, as well as other topics mandated by the Trade and Development Board, which oversees the organization's activities and deals with policy issues, management and institutional matters.
Review of the technical cooperation activities of UNCTAD and their financing
Working Party will have before it for its consideration the report of the Secretary-General of UNCTAD on the review of the technical cooperation activities of UNCTAD and their financing, covering activities undertaken in 2024.
The report contains analytical information on the different sources of financing for the technical cooperation activities of UNCTAD and the allocation of technical cooperation resources by type of project, product and region, as well as an updated overview of the structure and functioning of UNCTAD technical cooperation.
Beneficiaries, donors and the secretariat will also have an opportunity to interact and consult on all issues regarding UNCTAD technical cooperation activities.
Evaluation of UNCTAD activities
The Working Party will have before it the report of the Secretary-General of UNCTAD entitled "Evaluation of UNCTAD activities: Overview", in which findings from evaluations conducted between July 2024 and June 2025 are presented.
The main messages and recommendations from each evaluation are contained in the report, which may be helpful in informing the assessment, design and future implementation of UNCTAD projects and programmes.
Lessons learned, addressed specifically to management and programme managers, in the planning and implementation of projects and programmes, are also highlighted.
Participation
Member States are requested to submit to the UN Trade and Development secretariat the names of the representatives, alternate representatives and advisers that will participate in the session.
Representatives from United Nations bodies and programmes, specialized agencies and other intergovernmental bodies that may wish to participate in the session as observers are also requested to inform the UN Trade and Development secretariat of the names of their representatives.
Registration
Online registration is mandatory for all those wishing to attend the meeting and is required for inclusion in the list of participants.
Logistics
The session will be held with physical participation at the Palais des Nations. Those who cannot attend the meeting in person will be able to listen to the live audio stream. However, remote interventions will not be possible.
