The "Working Party" meets two to three times per year to review UNCTAD's programme plan and performance information, technical cooperation activities, evaluations, publications policy and communications strategy, as well as other topics mandated by the Trade and Development Board, which oversees the organization's activities and deals with policy issues, management and institutional matters.
Items to be considered by the Working Party at its eighty-fourth session include the following:

Review of the technical cooperation activities of UNCTAD and their financing
For its consideration of the item, the Working Party will have before it the report of the Secretary-General of UNCTAD on the review of the technical cooperation activities of UNCTAD and their financing (TD/B/WP/316), which deals with activities undertaken in 2021.
The report contains analytical information on the different sources of financing for the technical cooperation activities of UNCTAD and the allocation of technical cooperation resources by type of project, product (contained in the UNCTAD Toolbox: Delivering Results) and region, as well as an updated overview of the structure and functioning of UNCTAD technical cooperation.

Evaluation of UNCTAD activities: Overview
For its consideration of the item, the Working Party will have before it the report of the Secretary-General of UNCTAD, which presents findings from evaluations conducted between April 2021 and April 2022.
The main messages and recommendations from each evaluation are contained in the report, which may be helpful in informing the assessment, design and future implementation of UNCTAD projects and programmes.
In the report, lessons learned, addressed specifically to management and programme managers, in the planning and implementation of projects and programmes, are also highlighted.

External evaluation of UNCTAD subprogramme 1: Globalization, interdependence and development
The evaluation report will be prepared by an independent evaluation team, which will present the team’s findings, conclusions and recommendations to the Working Party for its consideration.
Participation
Member States are requested to submit to the UNCTAD secretariat the names of their representatives, alternate representatives and advisers who will participate in the session by Thursday, 29 September 2022.
Representatives from United Nations bodies and programmes, specialized agencies and other intergovernmental bodies that may wish to participate in the session as observers are also requested to inform the UNCTAD secretariat of the names of their representatives by the same date.

Online registration is mandatory for all those wishing to attend the meeting.
Logistics
The session will be held with both physical and remote participation, through a simultaneous interpretation platform in the six official languages of the United Nations.
